  Order our wedding cake from from Saint Germain. We were not super fussy about what we wanted, especially since we were coming from out of town and would not be able to meet in person or even do a tasting. Asked for a simple vanilla layered cake with a vanilla buttercream, and sent a picture of what we were looking for in terms of finished looked. What we received was a gross sponge cake that had zero flavour and the cake was iced with what looked like a "crumb coating" featuring a lard or margarine based icing. In some parts you could still see the cake. To top the whole experience off, they placed the cake a large squared cake board making it extremely difficult to move on to a cake plate for display. My parents had picked up the cake for us and I did not see it until the morning of the wedding when there was no time to have the situation corrected. This whole experience was a complete fail. If at anytime they were unsure of what we wanted or needed a phone call for clarification we would have been happy to work it out.
